| They do them every year as far as I know. It's to keep the canopies from spreading too much, and to promote leafy new growth. They nearly killed them all a few years ago when they pollarded them too hard back, but it looks like they're OK this year. Pollarding is standard practice and there's nothing wrong with it - provided it's done correctly!! I totally agree that our trees are very important. |
